Chihuahua - Kita - Small - Adult - Female - Dog
Kita is a 6-7 yo Chihuahua that was rescued from a local pound after being there for 2 weeks. When she came to us, she could stand but when she walked she would just fall over. She laid in her bed and refused to look at anyone for weeks. She would eat, go potty and go back to bed (falling over constantly the whole time). We really wondered if she had some neurological disorder for a while. But no, Kita was so severely starved and neglected that she literally had zero muscle mass and couldn't walk. Well, I am happy to report that she has very slowly come out of her shell. She is walking and running now just fine after months of physical therapy and good food. Jumping up on things still is an effort. She wants attention now! But when you reach for her she RUNS... then comes back.... and runs... lol She will sit in your lap if you pet her and will scratch at your leg for attention, but she cowers in fear when you reach for her still. She needs someone that will take the time with her to let her get used to things. She is fine with cats and dogs, but she *is* the boss female (or thinks she is) and will steal every toy (and potholder!) she can find! She's a ninja! So she is better off alone or with submissive male dogs. She is spayed , has had dental done (which as with all chis has to be checked regularly) and is up to date on her shots.
